The foundation of Orphan Connections will be built on the following pillars:
Foster/Adoptive family support
Foster care/Respite care
Information and Education
PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL
Evangelism: The primary purpose of Orphan Connections is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with vulnerable and orphaned children, their caregivers, and their families locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. All other purposes serve as a vehicle to do so.
Missions: Orphan Connections will partner with orphanages and other domestic and international mission programs, caring for, ministering to, and supporting vulnerable and orphaned children and their caregivers while presenting them with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pro-Life Partnership: The fight and right to simply live is the first step in protecting the lives of children. Orphan Connections wishes to partner with local pro-life clinic workers in order to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are considering abortion, as well as provide a safe place within our church family for mothers and babies who have nowhere else to turn.
Family Support: Orphan Connections’ goal is to protect children in our community who are at risk by preserving their families and supporting their caregivers. We wish to do this by offering court-mandated parenting classes, education, guidance, counseling, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Child Mentoring: While not everyone is able to adopt or physically bring a child into the home, many individuals have skills or gifts that can benefit children in the foster care system. Orphan Connections wishes to provide no-cost extracurricular lessons (i.e., piano, music, sports, tutoring, life skills) offered by volunteers who are focused on using this opportunity to mentor, disciple, and shepherd the child to Christ. We also wish to have a network of small-business owners who are willing to offer jobs to older foster teens, something that can be difficult for a foster child to obtain.
Child Sponsorship and Child Hosting: Many children, whether living with their birth families or not, do not have access to basic necessities like food, clothing, shelter, and basic education. Orphan Connection wishes to provide a community of families who show the love of Christ by supportinsg these children locally, regionally, nationally, and globally through child sponsorship or child hosting programs.
Foster/Adoptive Family Support: Becoming a foster or adoptive family can be a difficult journey, from beginning the home study process to meeting the needs of a hurting child placed in the home. Orphan Connections’ goal is to create a support system by providing fellowship and mentorship opportunities, and by meeting the spiritual and physical needs of foster and adoptive families.
PROVIDE A HOME
Foster Care and Respite Care: Sometimes families face a period of crisis and are temporarily unable to care for their children. Orphan Connections would like to offer support and resources for these families and children by providing respite (short term) or foster care until reunification is possible. While we serve these families and children, we have an opportunity to share with them the love of Christ.
Adoption: For children who are unable to return to their family of origin due to a variety of reasons, Orphan Connections would like to provide a network of people who are willing to permanently welcome these children into their homes and families. This includes foster-to-adopt, domestic adoption, and international adoptions.
Information and Education: Orphan Connections’ goal is to promote awareness of the plight of orphans locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. We hope to provide information, education, and support to families interested in caring for vulnerable and orphaned children and supporting their caregivers. We wish to create a network of families with foster and adoption experience who are willing to share their expertise.
